What is AI ethics?

There are many different approaches out there to defining AI ethics. Here is mine.

AI ethics is a field that aims to:

➤ Understand the risks and opportunities AI creates for the well-being of

-- People

-- Society

-- The environment

-- Non-human sentient beings (such as animals and sentient robots, if and when they will exist)

➤ Manage the risks and opportunities, i.e., work to mitigate the risks and take advantage of the opportunities. Common strategies:

-- Formulating principles for responsible development and use of AI

-- Creating tools to operationalize the principles

-- Advocating for regulation
